Welcome and Introduction
What can the Make & repair
Studio do for you?
Make and repair studio was established in 2020 after taking time out from my busy career in theatrical costuming and retraining in upholstery.
I’ve always had a passion for sustainability and keeping things out of landfill by repairing precious items with care and sensitivity. Now I have the space and time to open my studio to the general public and share my 30 years of materials knowledge I’ve gained decades of working in theatrical design.
I can provide creative solutions to refurbish your tired furniture or create something bespoke for your home such as: re-upholstery, loose covers or cushions. Click here to see my UPHOLSTERY gallery.
Sometimes there are special pieces that find their way to me that I offer for sale. Some will have already been re-upholstered and some I will leave for you to choose your own fabric. Click here FOR SALE items.
Costume creation will always be my first love and I continue to create for performance and cosplay. Click here to see my COSTUME gallery. I also offer an alteration service for all types of clothing, curtains as well as bags and awnings. Click here for ALTERATIONS gallery.
Free quotations as well as design and fabric choice advice is always available.

Tsubi has been a creative maker of puppets, theatrical sets and props, costumes and large scale stilt characters for the past 30 years. After studying Applied & Visual arts at the North Adelaide School of Arts, Tsubi went on to work in various locations, such as, Perth, Western Australia, Adelaide, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Manchester and Glastonbury. She has worked with many theatre companies, circuses, parades and events as a set designer, prop maker, puppeteer, percussionist, stilt walker and costume designer.
In 2017 she relocated to Norwich and opened her studio in Capitol House in 2018 taking on costume commissions for theatre companies, circuses and private clients. During lockdown (and after months of volunteering making scrubs for the NHS) she enrolled in a course with the Ministry of Upholstery and hasn’t looked back. She can now proudly add all kinds of modern and traditional upholstery to her repertoire. She really loves taking tired and unfashionable pieces and making them beautiful and comfortable again.
